my mom is a fantastic drama teacher at a high school here on the island and last night was the school's yearly production. it was adorable.
they performed the play "ask any girl" about Meg Wheeler, a young girl in the late 1950's who moves to New York City to find a job, flee her small-town lifestyle and fall in love. along the way she becomes a smitten-kitten with Evan Doughton, a playboy businessman, and hires his older brother Miles - the wiser and more straight-arrowed of the brothers to help her 'secure her dream husband'.

AKA - Meg falls for Evan. Evan doesn't care. Meg hires Miles to help Evan fall for her. Miles falls for Meg. Evan falls for Meg. Meg falls for Miles. Le sigh. It is le love.
my mom is such a creative and inspiring woman - she infused 50's pop songs into the script to add a musical twist to the play. there's nothing like a little Petula Clark, The Crystals and The Marvelettes to add a cute and whimsical spin. plus high school musicals are so hot right now (Zac Efron eat your heart out).
i am so proud of you mom for directing this charming production! love, love, love you!
